Physical Education

At Birchfield Nursery School, we recognise that physical development is a fundamental part of children's overall growth and well-being. Through planned physical education activities and active play opportunities, we aim to develop children's confidence, coordination, strength, balance, and healthy lifestyle habits. We provide a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment where all children can participate and enjoy physical activity.

Over the past few years we have invested heavily in our Physical Education provision because we recognise the vital role it plays in children's development during the Early Years. High-quality physical activity supports not only children's physical health, coordination and motor skills, but also their confidence, communication, social development and overall wellbeing.

To ensure the very best experiences for our children, we employ Mrs Royle, a specialist in Physical Education, Dance and School Sport, who has extensive teaching experience from Early Years through to Key Stage 5. Mrs Royle delivers engaging, age-appropriate sessions that develop fundamental movement skills, encourage a positive attitude towards physical activity and help children build confidence through active learning. Through her expertise, our children enjoy a rich and varied PE curriculum that lays strong foundations for a healthy, active lifestyle.
